Key points

Armbian's weekly GitHub roundup adds build support for several new boards and a new Realtek RTD129x family, along with more Rockchip kernel fixes. It also changes armbian-install, the BSP packages and the imager, and moves mainline U-Boot to v2026.10.

New boards

  • Initial build support was added for the Altera Agilex 5 SoCDK, Banana Pi R3 Mini, Firefly AIBOX-K3 and Allwinner H5 PBS TV Stick (pbstvstick).
  • The new realtek-rtd129x family brings mainline kernel and U-Boot to the Banana Pi W2. Its U-Boot uses 1 GiB with one DRAM controller and turns on the eth1 LEDs.
  • The MangoPi MQ Pro now boots through Debian GRUB EFI and has a maintainer and a test target.
  • The Radxa CM5-IO moves to mainline kernel and U-Boot, and its SPI image build is fixed.
  • The NanoPi M6 V2 gets a device tree and the ES8389 codec in the vendor kernel.
  • The Radxa Dragon Q6A exposes its SPI NOR, and its firmware can be updated from armbian-install.
  • The Milk-V Duo S gains camera support on its J1 and J2 connectors.

Firmware

  • Added Tegra210 USB, GPU and VIC blobs.
  • Added Amlogic VDEC firmware and Realtek rtl8261c.bin, both from linux-firmware.
  • Added CODA980 (VE1) firmware for RTD129x.
  • Added Radxa EDK2 firmware for Qualcomm boards.

Rockchip kernels

  • RK3576 gets a Panfrost GPU overlay.
  • On RK356x, Panfrost now works on vendor-next after OPP mask and GPU name fixes.
  • RK356x can suspend with USB and NVMe on the 7.3 branch.
  • Broken patches were repaired:
  • pm-domains and IOMMU on 6.18
  • general fixes for 7.3-rc7
  • Helios64 patches were split up, and unused DTS properties were dropped.
  • The rk_crypto2 (montjoie) crypto engine series was removed.
  • Board fixes:
  • Mixtile Blade3: USB-C1 sink PDOs raised to 3A
  • Mixtile Edge2: mainline DTS updated
  • reComputer RK3588 devkit: fan curve retuned
  • reComputer RK3576 Module Dev Kit: U-Boot reads the MAC address from EEPROM
  • AIC8800 SDIO support was reverted in linux-rockchip, and a separate AIC8800 bug was fixed on vendor-next.

Other platforms

  • RTD129x fixes:
  • hwnat RX buffer overflow on eth1 fixed
  • watchdog accepts timeouts above the hardware limit
  • r8169soc drops CSI access and logs each link change once
  • Sunxi edge moves to 7.3. The A523 gains playback-only HDMI audio, and a sun55i IOMMU fix lands on 6.18. On sun60iw2, the patched Xorg is installed only for X11 desktops.
  • Meson S4/T7 replaces current (7.1) with edge (7.3) and adds VIM4 GPU and audio. Meson64 7.3 keeps the HDMI source bounds check and fixes the Wake-on-LAN SecureOn password.
  • Odroid boards:
  • HC4: U-Boot power-cycles the SD card after a watchdog reset
  • XU4: current kernel goes to 6.6.159, and the RTL8821CU fix is simplified and applied only where the driver exists
  • Helios4 drives its OLED through the kernel ssd130x driver on mvebu edge.
  • KickPi K2B v2: 1G Ethernet packet loss is fixed, and a 1512 MHz OPP is enabled.
  • The cix SCMI ACPI patch was rebased onto 6.18.57.
  • The uwe5622 Wi-Fi driver gains DKMS support and a fix for kernel 7.3.

Installer, BSP and tools

  • armbian-install gains a standalone mode for disks that U-Boot boots from, and boards can now name the firmware it flashes.
  • BSP changes:
  • user edits to 02-armbian-periodic are preserved
  • the conffiles list is written after hooks and checked
  • conffiles removed by an extension are skipped
  • armbian-hardware-optimization rewrites armbianEnv.txt only when its content changes.
  • armbian-upgrades sets APT::Periodic::Enable and shows checkboxes in the unattended-upgrade dialog.
  • Smaller tool fixes:
  • armbian-firstlogin stores the Wi-Fi password as a YAML literal block
  • armbian-add-overlay quotes paths and runs #include overlays through cpp
  • armbian-led-state waits for LEDs registered by modules
  • armbian-ramlog recognizes .lz files
  • The imager no longer labels every target as an SD card.
  • Mainline U-Boot moves to v2026.10.
  • Unused kernel configs and orphaned U-Boot patches were removed.

Infrastructure and documentation

  • The documentation site adds a DUT inventory fed from NetBox, plus board pinouts, schematics and installation instructions indexed in armbian-images.json.
  • New board images:
  • Banana Pi BPI-W2, PBS TV Stick, MangoPi MQ Pro
  • Pine64 Quartz64 Zero, JetHub D3 (j310)
  • Agilex 5 SoCDK
  • Nightly builds now cover the Khadas VIM1S and VIM4 on edge and add a GNOME mid desktop.
  • Build infrastructure:
  • apt-cacher-ng fetches Armbian repositories from mirrors directly
  • runner cleanup removes corrupt by-hash entries
  • review pings wait 48 hours
