Qubes OS 4.3.2 has been released!
Key points
Qubes OS 4.3.2 is out as a stable patch release. It rolls every security update and bug fix published since the previous stable release into a fresh ISO, so new installations and reinstallations start up to date. The ISO and its verification files are on the project's downloads page.
What changed
- The default Fedora template moves to Fedora 44.
kernel-latestmoves to Linux 7.2.- Security updates and numerous bug fixes.
Who needs to do what
- New installation or clean reinstall: download the 4.3.2 ISO and follow the installation guide.
- Already on Qubes 4.3 (4.3.0, 4.3.1 or 4.3.2-rc1): update normally, including any end-of-life templates and standalones. That makes the system essentially equivalent to 4.3.2; no reinstallation is needed.
- Still on Qubes 4.2: upgrade to 4.3 immediately, because 4.2 has reached end of life.
- In every case the project strongly recommends a full backup first.
Known issue
- Templates restored in 4.3.2 from a pre-4.3 backup may keep pointing at the repositories of their original Qubes release (issue #8701). After restoring such templates, run this in a dom0 terminal; it picks the templates that need upgrading and shuts them down during the process:
sudo qubes-dom0-update -y qubes-dist-upgrade
sudo qubes-dist-upgrade --releasever=4.3 --template-standalone-upgrade -y- Fresh templates on a clean 4.3.2 installation are not affected, and neither are systems upgraded in place from 4.2 to 4.3, since that process already includes the fix.
Also announced
- Qubes OS Summit 2026 takes place in Berlin from 30 October to 1 November.
- A patch release is not a separate version: under the project's semantic versioning it is Qubes 4.3 with all updates up to a certain point.
